Muddy Press evolved as a collaborative book project between two artists and educators, Yi Dai (yidai.studio) and David Mumby (davidmumby.com). Their shared background in making and teaching art has developed into an ongoing exchange of ideas around literature, design, visual art, and language. Based in London, UK, Muddy Press runs alongside our independent, individual art practices and offers a space where design solutions shape raw material — drawings, writings, sketches — into publication projects that carry their own narrative and conceptual integrity. We print and hand-bind each publication in-house, with a focus on materiality and tactility while striving for a balance between accessibility and craftsmanship. The publications are not vessels for content, but artworks and objects in their own right.
